Bedding
Bedding encompasses all linens used to protect the mattress and provide warmth to sleepers. In addition to these functional purposes, bedding is used to decorate the bed, providing a bed theme and adding to the style of the sleep set and bedroom.
The term bedding encompasses all bedding accessory terms including bed sheets, comforters, blankets, pillows, bed skirts and duvets. Just like beds and mattresses, bedding comes in twin, twin extra long, double, queen, king and California king sizes.
The size of the bedding materials you choose will depend on the size of your mattress. If you have a double mattress, you will need double sized bedding in order for it to fit properly. Likewise, if you have a twin bed you will need twin (or single) sized bedding. Design Tips:
The following is a list of things to remember when choosing the best bedding for your bedroom:
- Men do not like flowers. It's a known fact that men do not like flowers or rainbows or polka dots or any of the other kinds of fabric most women tend to choose. That said, if you think you will be sharing your bedroom with a male counterpart please consider revising your decision. They may turn and use the door if they enter into a room filled with butterflies and flowers.
- Solids are a great, safe choice, which can potentially look very classy and elegant. Solid choices, especially earth tones such as beiges, greens and browns are the hottest colors on the market right now.
- Your pillows do not have to match your comforter, sheets or anything else. In fact, they actually look better when they contrast with the other colors. Using pillows of all sorts of colors can make draw attention to your bed and actually make your room look larger.
- Duvets are better suited for winter months, whereas comforters and sheets are better for summer months with warmer temperatures. It's best to have one of each, which can be alternated according to your preferences on any given day.
