Trundle Beds

A trundle bed is a twin bed, which rolls underneath another bed when not in use. Much like futons and sofa beds, trundle beds are an ideal way to create additional sleep space for unexpected guests. It is also an effective way to maximize sleep space while maintaining the aesthetics of the room. You can create a trundle bed by adding special link springs under any standard bed frame.

Pop-up trundle beds use a riser mechanism to lift the bed to standard bed height, allowing you to place the trundle bed against the stationary twin bed, thus creating one king size bed. Pop-up trundle beds are equipped with locking mechanisms to prevent the bed from collapsing.

Trundle beds are great for children who often have sleepovers with their friends. When the bed is not in use, it can be rolled away providing more space for the children to play. These types of beds are comfortable for children, so you won't have to worry about the other children not sleeping well.

Trundle beds are only available in twin sized forms because anything bigger would be too large to roll under another bed. Because they are smaller, they are not necessarily the best beds to choose for you and your special someone on a daily basis because they do not provide adequate room for two people to sleep. They are more suitable for small children or individuals sleeping by themselves, who do not require a lot of space while sleeping.

It's easy to dress up the look of a trundle bed for occasions when special guests arrive. Using decorative bed pillows, sheets and comforters you can really make this type of bed look elegant and sophisticated. Likewise, you can add children's pillows and sheets if the beds are usually used by children, so they are more suitable to the likes of the kids.

The type of bed you choose should not only look nice, but should also be practical. Every family should own a trundle bed for unexpected situations when an extra bed may be necessary. How would you feel if you had to tell your guests they're sleeping on the floor next to the dog?
